Shadow Selfie
Early morning light gives me a tall and skinny shadow. I can live with that.
Big Lens
The tower and fresnel lens of the Old Point Loma Lighthouse at the Cabrillo National Monument.
Old Point Loma Lighthouse
The original lighthouse only operated from 1855-1891, but still serves as a museum at the Cabrillo National Monument.
Protection?
Tempted to be cynical and ask when Karens became protected. More serious wondering how serious the protections are if developers are still allowed to expand right next to the preserve.
Birds
First thought: what died? Second thought: just how much water did I bring on this hike?
Plumeria on the balcony
First blooms on the plumeria on our balcony. The cutting was originally purchased back in 2018 at the Southern California Plumeria Society's annual Hawaiian Plumeria Festival at Balboa Park in September 2018, and with some nurturing and good fortune is finally hitting its potential.
Randy took this
He even made me look cute, if I do say so myself.
Family Photo II
Still loving the benches. Still trying to be middle America normal.
Family Photo I
Loving the unique benches on the trails of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. Took some family photos that may turn up in future holiday cards.
Onofre at Fiscalini Ranch Preserve
Just enjoying the hike, and greeting every squirrel and rabbit he sees.
Patio Fire
Fire Stick Cactus (Euphorbia tirucalli) on the patio. After nearly a week of heavy rain, I think both of us were fully appreciating a day of sunshine.
Lemon blossoms
Lemon tree on our patio blooming. Necessary step on the way to making lemonade.
Onofre
Onofre was interested in everything but the Elephant Seals at this San Simeon vista.
Reflections on Colors
Seen on an early morning walk through the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, a natural oasis in California in the transition zone between the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts.
Desert Oasis
No caravans or nomadic tents, but a natural oasis on the transition between the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts, protected as the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve.
Taking time for the view
Randy taking a moment to enjoy the view on a vista point on the Palms to Palms Highway as we were headed to Palm Springs
More puppy wrangling at the Adobe Jack trailhead.
Wrangling the dogs into photogenic cuteness at the Adobe Jack trailhead.
Between two places
Chapel of the Holy Cross on the left, Cathedral Rock on the right, and my wonderful husband Randy right in the middle of it.
